When replacing RO membranes in domestic RO systems with new ones, it is always recommended to replace the restrictor and the membrane at the same time. Over years of use, the restrictor becomes coated with salts and its rating decreases, which increases pump pressure and leads to premature wear. A decrease in membrane flushing (due to a decrease in the restrictor rating) reduces membrane flushing and leads to premature membrane failure.
